The past few years have seen a great increase in the popularity of unmanned aerial vehicles. These vehicles can carry cameras and provide aerial video which can be used for a number of purposes. Applications for this type of video footage include everything from news and marketing to landscape promotion, land development and crime solving.

In most countries, it is perfectly legal to use an unmanned vehicle to create aerial photography. The height limits however, are different in different areas. In Canada for instance, the height level is 400 feet to ensure that no incidents occur involving those UAVs and traditional aircraft. Other countries have different elevation regulations. Those who are planning to implement this photography type should check before they engage to ensure that they are not going against regulations. Professional photographers offering these services will know the limitations and regulations that should be followed.

Small radio controlled helicopters are used to lift high definition cameras in the air in order to provide the video. These helicopters are maneuverable and can take off and land vertically. They can be operated indoors or outdoors and unlike traditional full sized helicopters, these smaller versions can be used to fly through narrow areas as well as wooded regions.

Marketing’s purpose is to get the attention of potential customers. These videos can be used to help sell customers on specific products or services. Many businesses today use social networking sites and having video to show on those sites helps to improve site rankings.

RC or radio controlled helicopters are a bit more stable than other forms of elevation for video which is an important aspect when it comes to creating a quality video. They can get much closer to specific objects or scenes than other forms of aerial photography and they are much quieter than traditional helicopters. Some photographers still use balloons and kites to provide aerial photography and video although more and more are switching to the use of RC helicopters because they offer a much more stable video and they are a bit less costly than using a traditional full sized helicopter.

The noise reduction in RC helicopters is a major advantage over traditional helicopters. When used in residential neighborhoods, these larger full sized helicopters can produce too much noise which could be cause for complaints. RC helicopters are not nearly as noisy as their larger counterparts which makes them a much better choice for certain areas.

Aerial photography and video offers a number of advantages. Real estate companies and property developers use this form of video to show off properties and construction progress. Even auto dealers use it to show their inventory in a new and interesting light. There are a number of industries that rely on video to help them to better showcase their products or services and the increased popularity of aerial photography has helped these industries to offer a more unique outlook on their marketing plans, giving their customers a better experience when it comes to viewing their services or products.
